Lemont High School will hold its annual 8th Grade Open House on November 5 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The event is intended for current eighth grade students and their families who live within the school's attendance boundaries, which include Lemont and parts of Darien, Downers Grove, and Woodridge.
During the open house, prospective students and their families can meet teachers, counselors, and administrators. They will also be able to visit various areas of the school building such as athletic facilities, the Performing Arts Center, the CITGO Innovation Academy, and newly remodeled classrooms. The open house will start in the Performing Arts Center on the southwest side of campus at 800 Porter Street in Lemont.
"This is the only open house that will be offered for Class of 2030 students. Lemont High School does not offer shadow days for prospective students," according to school officials.
There will be no placement exam for incoming ninth graders. Instead, course placements will be determined using standardized test scores provided by each student's grade school.
For families with children enrolled in Catholic or private elementary schools, there are restrictions set by the Archdiocese of Chicago that limit public high schools' involvement with these schools’ recruitment activities. "Specifically, Catholic elementary schools may not invite public high schools to Catholic elementary school-sponsored high school recruitment events; provide an opportunity for public high schools to hold placement tests on their campuses; or distribute promotional materials from public high schools." Parents or guardians of private school students interested in attending Lemont High School next year are encouraged to attend the open house or visit the New Student Enrollment page for further instructions.
Individuals with disabilities who need accommodations should call (630) 257-5838 ahead of time to make arrangements.
