The board is among 46 to receive the IASB's 2024 School Board Governance Recognition designation, which it will hold for two years. This award highlights school boards that demonstrate excellence in local school governance through specific activities and behaviors.

The recognition program emphasizes the importance of acquiring knowledge and skills necessary for effective district leadership. It celebrates boards that adhere to IASB’s Foundational Principles of Effective Governance, focusing on comprehensive board development and participation.

District 210 Board members include President Kurt Korte, Vice President Lynn Antonopoulos, Secretary Mike Kardas, and members Pam Driscoll, Gary Gray, Renée Koehler, and Beverly Marzec.

“I am thrilled the Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education has received this recognition from the Illinois Association of School Boards,” stated District 210 Superintendent Dr. Mary Ticknor. “This did not come as a surprise to me because throughout my tenure, I have admired the commitment each board member has shown to ensuring their actions and their own ongoing education support continuous improvement at Lemont High School.”

The program aims to highlight school boards that make positive impacts on students, staff, and the community. It offers districts an opportunity to showcase programs improving outcomes locally while allowing board members to emphasize how continuous learning leads to improved governance.

“Each of us who serves on the District 210 Board of Education understands what a privilege and responsibility it is to serve in this role,” said Korte. “We are honored to be part of the Lemont High School community and are proud of the strides the school has taken in campus safety and security, curriculum development, financial forecasting, and facilities planning.”

Korte added that "this recognition from the Illinois Association of School Boards affirms we are on the right track as we work with school administrators to make decisions that will set up Lemont High School for success now and in the future."
