Four students at Lemont High School were recognized as November “Students of the Month” during the Board of Education meeting held on November 17. The honorees are senior Lily Crowther for Music, junior Edvin Morochin for Mathematics, sophomore Charlie Brandt for Business, and freshman Taylor Thorsness for Science.
Lemont High School selects one student from each grade every month to acknowledge their commitment to both school and community. The departments represented rotate monthly, with a total of 32 students receiving this recognition each academic year from October through May. Students can only be selected once during their time at the school.
Local businessman Brad Grcevic, representing Edward Jones, Inc. in Lemont, donates to a charity chosen by the Student of the Month recipients each month. For November, the students selected the American Cancer Society as the beneficiary.
Lemont Township High School serves grades 9 through 12 and had an enrollment of 1,378 students in the 2019-2020 school year. The largest group was juniors, who made up 26.5 percent of all students according to data from the Illinois Report Card (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). The student body is composed primarily of white students at 81.1 percent, with Hispanic students accounting for 11.2 percent, Asian students at 4.6 percent, and black students at 0.9 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
