David Donnelly, 77, of Lemont, formerly of Hawthorne, NY, passed away on July 31, 2025. David served in the U.S. Air Force in South Korea from 1967 to January 1969 and later provided communications support for the Apollo space missions at Cape Canaveral. After his military service, he dedicated 7 years as a scoutmaster for Lemont Boy Scout Troop 149. David was passionate about greyhound rescue, actively involved with Midwest Greyhound Adoption, and also enjoyed supporting the Cubs and Bears.

He is survived by his beloved wife Jane, their children Kelly (John) Trotz and Michael (Nicoletti) Donnelly, and grandchildren Kylie, Liam, Bryce, and Harper. David will be dearly missed by his sister Carole (Kevin) McLeod, nieces Robin, Tara, and Kevin, and great-nieces Hannah, Shawn, Eric, Nathan, and Caroline.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Markiewicz Funeral Home, P.C. at 108 Illinois St. in Lemont. Funeral services will take place on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in David's honor can be made to Midwest Greyhound Adoption or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
