Four students at Lemont High School were recently recognized as April's "Student of the Month" at a Board of Education meeting on April 21. Senior Lucia Macari, junior Kristopher Szaflarski, sophomore Haley Young, and freshman Gabrielle Stasytis were the students celebrated, representing the English, Industrial Technology, Social Studies, and Center for Academic Vision & Excellence departments, respectively.
The school awards a "Student of the Month" title to one student from each grade level every month. Each department gets a chance to nominate students on a rotational basis. Throughout the academic year, from October to May, a total of 32 students receive this honor. Students can only achieve this recognition once during their high school career.
Local businessman Brad Grcevic of Edward Jones, Inc. in Lemont supports the initiative by donating to a charity chosen by the awardees. The selected charity for this month is the #EllieStrong Forever Foundation.
