Lemont High School's Honors Symphonic Band, under the direction of Ben Clemons, has been chosen to participate in the 2025 University of Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival. The event is slated for May 10 and will take place at Foellinger Great Hall within the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
The Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival is considered the state's championship for concert bands. Lemont's band has been selected for the festival for the third time in four years and the sixth time overall, having previously performed in 2001, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2024. Lemont's scheduled performance is at 3:30 p.m. on May 10.
Bands from across Illinois submitted performance tapes over the winter to apply for this year's event. Besides Lemont, other Class 1A bands invited to participate include Marian Catholic High School, Morton High School, Normal West High School, Tinley Park High School, and Triad High School.
The members of Lemont’s Honors Symphonic Band include several seniors: Samuel Ahlberg, Gioia Antonaci Gomez, Lauren Ascolani, Nick Bielanski, Julianna Duran, Andrew Kincaid, Evan Lambe, Matthew Manalo, John O'Malley, Thomas O'Malley, Jameson Porritt, Andrew Rafacz, Leonardo Rafacz, Kaylee Sojka, Nicholas Splitt, Nora Thornber, and Owen Zogby. Juniors in the band are Eve Cosenza, Lily Crowther, Jacob DePirro, Carson Fischer, Kelsey Gottardo, Reagan McManus, Taliana O’Connor, Luke Rupert, and Elizabeth Staubus. Sophomores include Emily Bawiec, Jacob Emini, Emmett Farrell, Gianna Gumina, Michael Kowalewicz, Edvin Morochin, Victor Rafacz, and Eli Zogby, while freshmen band members are Natalie Rupert, Lyla Smith, and Olivia Sulkowski.
