The Lemont High School community is mourning the loss of Mark Hollatz, a dedicated educator who passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2025. The school has expressed its condolences to his family and will offer support services on campus for students, faculty, and staff during this difficult time.

Mark Hollatz began his teaching career at Lemont High School in 1995 and was in his 30th year as a business teacher in the Career & Technical Education Department. Known for connecting with students and delivering engaging lessons, Mr. Hollatz inspired many to pursue further studies in business.

In addition to his teaching role, Mr. Hollatz was a successful coach. Over three decades (1995-2024), he led the boys' golf team to numerous victories, including 23 conference championships and two state trophies. He also coached the girls' bowling team for 22 seasons (2002-25), leading them to four state finals appearances, and served as head baseball coach from 1996 to 2004.

Mr. Hollatz's impact extended beyond the classroom as he taught thousands of students and collaborated with hundreds of colleagues during his tenure at Lemont High School. His sudden passing is felt deeply by the entire school community.

Arrangements have been finalized by O’Neil Funeral Home in Lockport, with all services being private. However, there are false obituary posts circulating on social media that should not be trusted. The funeral home has confirmed that they did not generate these posts, nor did Lemont High School or the Hollatz family.
