Lemont High School junior Luke Rupert has been selected to play in the All-State Jazz Band at the 2025 Illinois Music Education Conference. The event took place last month at the Peoria Civic Center and was hosted by the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA). The conference is known for attracting top performers from across Illinois, featuring guest conductors, seminars, and various concert performances.
Rupert's selection marks his first participation in the IMEC. He was one of only five alto saxophonists chosen from across the state for this prestigious band. More than 1,000 students were selected to participate in ILMEA’s 2025 All-State Student Programs after auditions and district festivals throughout Illinois. Those involved in all-state performing ensembles concluded their experience with concerts led by distinguished conductors and educators nationwide.
In 2022, Lemont set a school record with six students earning places on all-state performing ensembles. Destina Sarussi ‘24 (Flute) remains Lemont’s only three-time all-state performer, having been named to the All-State Orchestra each year from 2022-24.
