The Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education has announced the appointment of Dr. Matt Maxwell as the district's next superintendent. This decision concludes a comprehensive search process for a successor to Dr. Mary Ticknor, who will retire on June 30, 2025, after serving as superintendent for 13 years.
Maxwell is currently the Superintendent of Central Community Unit School District 4 in east central Illinois, which includes areas such as Ashkum, Chebanse, and Clifton. He will become the 17th superintendent in District 210’s history.
Board President Kurt Korte stated, “Selecting District 210’s next superintendent is one of the most important decisions the Board of Education will make, and we were fortunate to interview a pool of highly qualified candidates.” He added that Maxwell's extensive experience in educational leadership positions is expected to benefit the district.
Maxwell has agreed to a three-year contract with District 210 and will begin his new role on July 1, 2025. During his tenure at Central CUSD 4 since taking over in 2023, he has negotiated collective bargaining agreements with unions and revamped human resources processes among other achievements.
His previous roles include serving as Principal at Grant Park Middle School and Grant Park High School from 2017 to 2023. There he led initiatives focused on student achievement and professional development for teachers. His efforts contributed to Grant Park High School receiving recognition from U.S. News & World Report in its "Best High Schools" list.
Maxwell began his career at Bradley-Bourbonnais High School where he worked as a social studies teacher before moving into administrative roles including assistant principal.
He holds degrees from Illinois Wesleyan University, Saint Xavier University, Aurora University, and a certification from the University of Illinois-Springfield. A native of Tinley Park and an alumnus of Andrew High School, Maxwell resides with his wife Liz and their four children.
