The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education reviewed the results of a recent audit during their meeting on November 19, 2024. The audit emphasized the district's dedication to financial management and transparency.
The district has maintained fiscal health as a central focus in its internal communications and community interactions. This focus, combined with efforts from the Board of Education, has placed the district in a stable financial position. Over recent years, SD113A has reopened Central School, introduced additional programs like full-day kindergarten, and offered ongoing professional development for staff.
Superintendent Dr. Courtney Orzel stated, "The state of our district is strong, and we remain focused on building a bright future." She acknowledged challenges such as growing enrollment and limited space but viewed increased enrollment as evidence of the district's commitment to exceptional education.
Highlighted accomplishments include maintaining the best bond rating in 15 years, receiving multiple bond upgrades with S&P upgrading it to AA+ in July 2023 with a stable outlook. Additionally, the district received 12 consecutive financial recognition scores from the Illinois State Board of Education through 2024 and earned ASBO Financial Recognition Awards from 2020 to 2023.
Board President Damon Ascolani remarked, “As a Board, we are continuously focused on fiscal responsibility, stability and transparency.” He noted that these achievements affirm their financial strategies align with student needs.
The SD113A Board comprises seven elected community members serving four-year terms: Damon Ascolani (President), Al Malley (Vice President), Bethany Martino (Secretary), Angela Andrus (Member), Kevin Collins (Member), Patrick Kerrigan (Member), and Joseph Pogvara (Member).
