Lemont High School has announced that 62 students from its Class of 2025 have been named Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). This recognition places them among the top academic achievers in the state. Each year, more than 20,000 students across Illinois receive this distinction.
The number of honorees from Lemont's Class of 2025 ties with the Class of 2019 for the third-highest single-year total in the school's history. Previously, the Class of 2018 had a record 83 students recognized, while the Class of 2024 had 64.
Selection as an Illinois State Scholar is based on SAT or ACT scores and class rank at the end of a student's junior year. The honor does not come with a monetary award but can be beneficial for college applications and scholarship opportunities. ISAC works closely with high school guidance counselors to determine which students receive this accolade.
Students and their parents are encouraged to visit ISAC's website for more information about financial assistance programs available for college education.
