Lemont High School students achieved notable success in the Advanced Placement (AP) exams conducted last spring, setting nine new school records. Nearly 80 percent of AP students passed at least one exam, marking a significant achievement for the institution.

The College Board's AP Program allows high school students to undertake college-level courses and earn college credit or advanced placement based on their exam performance. The College Board is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to connecting students with college opportunities.

In 2024, Lemont High School set records in several categories:

- A total of 984 AP exams were taken, surpassing the previous record of 917 set in 2019.

- The number of exams passed reached 753, up from the previous record of 626 in 2023.

- The passing rate was recorded at 76.5 percent, compared to the former record of 73.8 percent in 2020.

- A total of 405 AP students passed at least one exam, exceeding the prior record of 366 from last year.

- The percentage of AP students passing at least one exam rose to 78.9 percent from the previous high of 77.5 percent in 2023.

- Two hundred students received recognition from the College Board, surpassing the earlier mark of 151 set in 2020.

- Seventy-six students earned the title "AP Scholars with Distinction," an increase from fifty-two last year.

- Thirty-seven were named "AP Scholars with Honor," breaking a previous record set in 2018 with thirty-four honorees.

- Eighty-seven individuals were recognized as "AP Scholars," up from eighty recorded four years ago.

Although Lemont did not break its own record for student participation—513 took at least one exam this year compared to a peak of 518 in 2022—the school saw its highest success rates across various subjects including English Literature & Composition and Macroeconomics.

Currently offering twenty-one different AP courses ranging from Biology to World History, Lemont High School continues to provide diverse academic opportunities for its student body.

Seventy-six students qualified for the "AP Scholar with Distinction Award" by achieving an average score above three-and-a-half on all their exams and scoring three or higher on five or more tests. Among these are graduates like Jammir Aloya and current seniors such as Carly Brennan.

Thirty-seven individuals received recognition as "AP Scholars with Honor" by maintaining an average score above three-and-a-quarter on all exams and earning scores over three on four or more tests. This group includes graduates Michael Amberg and current juniors like Sam Scoville.

Eighty-seven participants achieved status as "AP Scholars" by completing three or more exams with scores above three. Graduates Gabriella Abbott and current seniors like Sam Ahlberg were among those honored.

The National AP Scholar award was discontinued after the academic year ending in June 2020; however, Lemont previously set a record with eight National AP Scholars that same year.
