Lemont High School has been recognized on the 2024 AP Honor Roll for its exceptional performance in Advanced Placement (AP) exams, earning "Silver" recognition for the second consecutive year. The AP School Honor Roll acknowledges schools that excel in encouraging students to participate in AP courses and assisting them toward college readiness.
The evaluation criteria for this honor include "College Culture," "College Credit," and "College Optimization." Lemont High School improved its scores from 2023 across all these areas. It achieved a 49 percent score in "College Credit," qualifying it for Gold status, and a 25 percent score in "College Optimization," meeting Platinum standards. However, its 64 percent score in "College Culture" narrowly missed the Gold designation by one point.
Lemont's students set multiple records with their performance on last spring's AP exams. Nearly 80 percent of AP students passed at least one exam, contributing to nine new school records, including a total of 984 AP exams taken and 753 passed. Additionally, 405 students passed at least one exam, with an overall passing rate of 76.5 percent.
Furthermore, Lemont saw significant achievements with 200 students receiving recognition from the College Board, including distinctions such as 76 AP Scholars with Distinction and 37 AP Scholars with Honor.
