Registration is now open for ACT 36, a test preparation program at Lemont High School designed to help students prepare for the ACT exam. The program is available to all juniors at Lemont High School as well as juniors from other area schools.
Students can choose between two seven-week sessions, each consisting of weekly two-hour classes held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Lemont High School. The first session starts on Tuesday, January 10, and runs through March 10 with meetings every Tuesday. The second session begins Wednesday, January 21, and continues each Wednesday until March 11. Both sessions include a Practice ACT during the week of March 2; that week’s class will be extended from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
The cost for the course is $370, which covers seven sessions, a textbook, and the Practice ACT. If school is canceled due to weather or other circumstances, an additional week will be added.
The registration deadline is January 6 or until sections are filled. Registration and payment must be completed online. A late fee applies after January 6.
According to organizers, “The goal of ACT 36 is to give students the confidence, strategies and content necessary to score their personal best on the ACT. The course does this by familiarizing students with the elements of the ACT, from content and timing to pacing and strategies. The course also reviews difficult concepts, specifically in English and mathematics, and allows students an opportunity to take a practice exam. All ACT 36 instructors are carefully trained and certified.”
Lemont Township High School serves grades nine through twelve in Lemont and Cook County with an enrollment of about 1,378 students during the 2019-2020 school year (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). Of these students, grade eleven had the highest concentration with approximately 26.5 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/School.aspx?schoolid=070162100170001).
State requirements mandate that all districts participate in annual statewide assessments. Lemont High School’s Class of 2027 will take the ACT on Tuesday, April 14.
