Lemont High School has announced that 54 students from its Class of 2026 have been named Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). This recognition is given annually to more than 20,000 students statewide and is based on SAT or ACT scores as well as class rank at the end of junior year.
According to ISAC, "Illinois State Scholars honorees come from nearly 750 high schools and represent approximately the top 10 percent of the state’s high school seniors. Selection is based on SAT or ACT scores and class rank (if applicable) at the end of the student’s junior year. High school guidance counselors work with ISAC to determine the winners."
The Illinois State Scholar award does not include a financial component, but recipients can use this honor when applying for college admissions and scholarships. ISAC has provided resources and support for higher education funding in Illinois for nearly seven decades. "The Illinois Student Assistance Commission provides students of all ages and backgrounds with the resources and support to obtain financial aid for higher education. A state agency," states ISAC.
In previous years at Lemont High School https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/, there were 83 Illinois State Scholars in the Class of 2018—a school record—and 64 in the Class of 2024.
