Lemont High School's National Honor Society is preparing for the third annual "Lemont v Hunger" food packing event on April 12. In previous years, the students packed over 50,000 meals in 2023 and more than 100,000 meals in 2024. This year, they aim to pack 125,000 meals.
The event is a collaboration with Feed6, a meal-packing organization. All packed meals will be donated to the Northern Chicago Food Depository. Students and staff from various clubs at Lemont High School will participate in this initiative.
To reach their goal of packing 125,000 meals, each costing just 37 cents, the National Honor Society has set a fundraising target of $50,000. They are seeking sponsorships and encouraging online donations from the community. Sponsorship levels range from $75 (Bite level) to $750 (Feast level), but all contributions are welcome.
The meal packing will take place on campus and is open to students and community members interested in participating. Volunteers will provide instruction and assistance during the event. Those interested in volunteering can contact National Honor Society President Mitchell Sowa at sowamit000@s.lhs210.net.
