Lemont High School is preparing for its annual holiday concerts, set to take place on December 5 and December 11. These events, organized by the school's music department, will showcase performances from both the band and choir. The concerts are scheduled to start at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. for general seating in the Performing Arts Center.
The first concert on December 5 will be a "Prism" event, where members of the band and choir, along with students from general music classes, will form various small ensembles. This performance will include a mix of music specifically composed for the genre and popular holiday tunes. The audience can expect a continuous stream of sound from different ensemble configurations such as percussion, vocal, brass, woodwind groups, and more. Special lighting effects are planned to enhance the experience.
On December 11, attendees will enjoy a more traditional concert featuring full group performances by both the band and choir. The Concert Band's program includes pieces like "Twas the Night Before Christmas" arranged by Jack Bullock and "Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson. Meanwhile, the Choir will perform selections such as "Ad Astra" by Jacob Naverud and "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies" by P.I. Tchaikovsky.
Ben Clemons directs the Lemont High School band while Dave Nommensen leads the choir. Both programs aim to deliver an array of musical selections across these two evenings.
Entry to each concert is free; however, attendees are encouraged to bring canned or paper goods for donation to local food pantries. Items needed include hygiene products (excluding toothpaste) and home care supplies.
For those attending either concert, Lemont High School is located at 800 Porter Street in Lemont. Parking is available in several lots accessible via Julia Street.
